“For wisdom is better than rubies; And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” Proverbs 8:11
I ended our Bible message this past Sunday morning with this illustration, “In May of 2012, a 32-carat Burmese ruby and diamond ring—that was part of the collection of Lily Safra, one of the richest women in the world—was sold at an auction. The pre-auction estimate for the sale was $3–5 million, but the final sale price ended up at $6.7 million. It is believed to be the most expensive ruby ever sold.
But, as valuable as rubies are, the Bible tells us that wisdom is far better and more valuable. No earthly treasure can compare to wisdom because nothing else offers the same protection, benefits, and blessings that wisdom does.”
How we need wisdom from God! Wisdom is the proper and practical application of knowledge and understanding - the right use of knowledge. James 1:5 exhorts us, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” God will freely answer our prayer for wisdom and will not chide us for not knowing what we should not have done or should do.
Let’s close today with these reminders:
- “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10
- “The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: But the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.” Proverbs 15:2
- “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7
You are loved and prayed for.
Sincerely,
