“Where there is no vision (or revelation from God) the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” —Proverbs 29:18

Vision comes from God. We have the vision of His Word wherein He gives us His sovereign oversight, plan, and vision for His work in and through our lives. Vision also represents what God puts in our heart individually to do for Him and to lead others to help accomplish - “Commit thy works unto the LORD, And thy thoughts shall be established” (Proverbs 16:3). 

Nehemiah 2:12 states, “And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem…” we read in Ezra 7:27, “Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:” As a leader in ministry, I must spend time in God’s Word to understand His mind in matters I am dealing with or I need to lead in. I must also acknowledge that our church and its ministries belong to Him as I ask Him in prayer for His vision for Shining Light.

Vision must also be discerned from the Lord and then communicated to the people. Effective communication is the expression and conveyance of information from one person to another. It is the imparting of knowledge. It can take on many forms such as verbal communication, non-verbal, written, audio, pictorial or illustrated, etc.
